Words of Wisdom

  • Ephesians 4 says, "And He gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God."

1. GRACE & GROWTH

In the book, '15 Characteristics of Effective Pastors' Kevin Mannoia and Larry Walkemeyer make a strong argument that pastors are not only called but there are principles that will make them more effective.

I would like to highlight those 15 characteristics over the next series of blogs and ask us, as pastors, to review our own effectiveness, or as Jesus would describe it as our fruitfulness in ministry.

Effective pastors have had authentic experiences of God's grace which has led them to pursue continued growth in their Christian walk. For them the focus of their lives and ministries is to "grow up into Him who is the Head."

Effective pastors have a healthy realization of their need of the grace of God and a sincere motivation to continually grow in every area of life and ministry. What about you pastor?

1 Corinthians 3:7 "So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth." How aware are you of God's grace in and for your life? What are you doing to grow each day in your walk with Jesus and others?
