Knowing Jesus is the will of God!
He is the meaning of all life and happy are those who understand this. Sadly, not everyone understands, so life is often lived without much authentic spiritual preparation or purpose.
To understand the combination required to open the lock on His will, some things must be addressed.
God has a will for your life that is meant to be a blessing for you and those in your family and circle of influence. For most, if we are honest, we get in the way and distort God's work, His ways and ultimately, His will in our lives.
Have you ever heard about the 'perfect' will of God and the 'permissive' will? What is the difference?
Giving is His perfect will because it best reflects who He is - a God who is generous. I can enjoy tithing, giving, blessing as part of my walk while at the same time be only in His permissive will because I am holding an offense against someone.
My responsibility is to bring every area of my life into the perfect will of God more than the permissive will.
At this point in our lives divine appointments kick in. People, places and things start happening that really get our attention and sharpen our discernment. "Is this the will of God for me or not? becomes THE question for us to ask".
Tools that help us discern include:
Meditating in the Word of God. Listening prayer. Keeping a diary of what God speaks to our heart. Conversations with trusted friends who help us with perspective. They can guide us through the revelation we've received. Friends will also talk about knowing the peace of God, timing and separation to ministry, that needs to be processed.
Some important questions to consider.
Is this the timing required for this step in your life?
Is your attitude pure or cluttered?
Does He have a certain place in mind?
What is the way He is pointing out for you to follow?
Who is alongside to help make it come to pass?
Moses met God in the wilderness and discerned His will for his life. Jonah discerned, while being in the belly of a whale, that God's will for his life was important enough to God that He got Jonah's attention in a dramatic way. The list goes on and on and on.
My favourite character in the Bible is Joseph in Genesis who discovers God's will for his life in the most trying of circumstances. In the end, he was blessed to be a blessing.
Such is the will of God for each and every one of us!
How are you doing discerning the will of God for your life?
